Weekend Trip with Roommates – One Day Trip to the North Coast

After a week of work, not sure where to go for the weekend? Let our Zhongshan-Shuanglian1 housemates take you on an outing!

This time, they have organized a one-day trip to the North Coast, allowing us to explore the recommended attractions and delicacies together!!!

First Stop – Shalun Beach in Tamsui

Located near the Lover’s Bridge in Tamsui, Shalun Beach is a perfect spot to sit on the sand, gaze at the ocean, and experience the tranquility of the coast. This beach, not frequently visited by the public, is a relatively serene hidden gem. Watching children and pets roam freely creates a healing atmosphere. On that day, they brought picnic mats and enjoyed the beach while chatting. One of our housemates from the UK later shared that the view of this sea was truly therapeutic for her, as back in her hometown, she rarely had the opportunity to see such expansive seascapes. She expressed joy in being able to appreciate Taiwan’s coastline with everyone.

Second Stop – Laomei Green Reef

Continuing along the North Coast, you’ll reach a community called “Laomei.” Here, you’ll find Taiwan’s only green reef coast known as “Laomei Green Reef.” What makes it special is that in April, as the northeast monsoon gradually subsides, the reef becomes covered with lush green seaweed, creating a breathtaking landscape known as the “Green Reef.”

Additionally, the local area offers a treat known as “石花凍” (Stone Flower Jelly), a delightful dessert. Our Japanese housemate mentioned that the taste of 石花凍 reminds her of a Japanese summer snack called “ところてん” (Tokoroten), with similar flavors. The difference lies in Japan’s practice of shaping it into noodle-like strips. The most popular way to enjoy it is by drizzling black vinegar, or combining it with bonito soy sauce and sesame. For those with a sweet tooth, you can also try it with a drizzle of black sugar syrup.

Third Stop – Jinshan Old Street


After leaving Laomei, they arrived at the highlight of today’s lunch itinerary – Jinshan Old Street. Jinshan is renowned for three must-try delicacies: crab, duck meat, and sweet potatoes. The Three-Point Crab and Seafood Congee are highly recommended here, which includes a whole crab in one bowl – delicious!

Speaking of sweet potatoes, our Korean housemate tried chatting with the sweet potato vendor in Taiwanese.
Housemate: 這地瓜金價賀甲嗎？ (Is this sweet potato really delicious?)
Surprisingly, they discovered that the Taiwanese pronunciation of “真的” (really) is quite similar to the Korean pronunciation, and they also found similarities in the pronunciation of other words like “圖書館” (library), “學生” (student), and “時間” (time). It was truly fascinating!

After savoring the delicious seafood congee, they visited Jinshan Temple Street. A notable feature here is the self-service duck meat and dishes, with the must-try items being duck meat and fried noodles!

After indulging in duck meat, they found red sweet potato ice cream on the old street, and of course, various fresh sweet potatoes for sale. Once they were full and satisfied, they strolled to the public foot bath at Huanggang Community in the back mountains of Jinshan, offering free hot spring foot baths. Enjoying the scenery and chatting with friends while soaking their feet was truly relaxing.

Unconsciously, dusk arrived, and they prepared to head to the next destination as the sun set in the west.

Fourth Stop – Zhongjiao Bay


After enjoying the foot bath, they headed to Zhongjiao Bay near Jinshan. This beach is known for its cleanliness and is a popular spot among surfing enthusiasts.

They played on the beach until evening. After the activities, hunger struck again, signaling it was time to head to the final destination of the day.

Final Stop – Keelung Temple Night Market


They chose Keelung Temple Night Market as the concluding destination for their North Coast journey. The entrance of the night market exuded a vibrant atmosphere with colorful flags, and on both sides were stalls offering a variety of delicious dishes, including braised pork rice, nutritious sandwiches, bubble ice, and more, waiting for everyone to explore.

After a day of fun and satisfaction, it was time to head home. The housemates had a happy and fulfilling day, looking forward to the next adventure!

Now, how do you get to these North Coast attractions? In addition to convenient public transportation, driving is an excellent choice for touring. Even if you don’t have a car, there’s no need to worry!

Experience share house life with Trial Stay Campaign at Borderless House – True Voice from the tenants

We, BORDERLESS HOUSE, strive to create a multicultural environment in Japan and promote cultural exchange with Japan and other countries all over the world. In order to let more foreigners have the chance to experience living and participating in this kind of community, we started this campaign that offers people to stay at an international share house to take a test run of living in a share house with the minimum budget, just to take a test run of living in a share house!

What is ”Trial Stay Campaign”?

With the trial campaign, you can stay at BORDERLESS HOUSE rent-free for up to two months and get a taste of what it’s like living there! All you need to pay are the deposit and 2-month monthly utilities! We’d like to minimize your worries on moving costs and offer you a low initial fee and a big discount on the rent (which is totally FREE for two months), so you can focus on enjoying experiencing the share house life without worrying about spending a lot of money.

So far, over 70 people have benefited from this campaign!

Why did you want to use this campaign at first?

Rai from Kugahara House:

When I had to move out from the dorm and was looking for a place to stay, I googled “share house” on Google and found Borderless House. Since I was a student with a tight budget, I was looking for something that is cheap, either with a low initial fee or a rent discount, and then I was lucky to see the Trial Stay Campaign offers both, which enables short-term stay as well. I was attracted by the campaign but was still concerned about it, so I did some researches and saw many good reviews and comments for Borderless House.

Then I just applied for a room viewing. After the room viewing, I was very satisfied, because the staff who helped me are very friendly and the living environment looks great. The quality of everything is good in general even when the moving fees are low!

How do you like this campaign so far?

David from Osaka Tsuruhashi1 House:

I really think Borderless House staff does a great job helping the people who live here with everything and they care a lot about the quality of the property as well as resolving issues.

I haven’t been able to participate very much in the online events because I’m working full time, but I think Borderless House is good because I can still interact with my housemates to get a feeling of community and to make friends in Japan. 

Thank you very much for the summer trial campaign, and I hope that my friend who I referred to Borderless House is able to get the trial campaign as well if it is extended!

What do you like the most during your trial stay at Borderless House?

I really liked meeting former tenants and tenants from other Borderless House. It created a really friendly atmosphere!

When I first moved in, there was an issue with the lock on my door. We also had an issue with a bad neighbor. However, the staff helped us fix the problems and staying at this house has been very nice ever since! Also. the campaign had perfect timing because I needed financial assistance to move to my new job in Osaka. It helped me have a comfortable move to a new city to start working here!

Share with us about your experiences so far?

Rai from Tokyo Kugahara House:

People at my house are very kind and friendly, and we maintain the house cleanliness together pretty well. Compared with when I was living in a dormitory, it’s so much better to stay at a share house like Kugahara House. Even though everyone is quite busy with their life or work, whenever we meet each other at the house, the atmosphere is always good. We would have a small chat about our life or just greet each other, so it felt like a home-like environment for me. I am very comfortable living with everyone. We respect each other as well. I think the reason why the people are all really nice here is that Borderless House has a screening process, and I appreciate it. It secures the quality of the house community as I think the housemates who you are living with are very important. My decision of whether I am extending my stay or not after the trial stay period is also depending on it, And now, I would very much like to continue my stay at Borderless House Kugahara.

So you have extended your stay at Borderless House after your Trial Stay ended, could you tell us the reasons that make you continue your stay?

E.D from Musashi-Koyama House:

When I first moved in, the house community was not so active at the beginning. However, more housemates have moved in and things have been changing gradually. Everyone is very nice and cooperative. The atmosphere and the community at the house are very good now. When I was living alone, I was feeling lonely when I’m home, but now I have my housemates to keep me company. Also, I was able to practice my Japanese with my housemates. 

Have you compared Borderless House with other accommodation choices?

K.B from Shinagawa-Togoshi House:

I was in a tight financial situation at that time and I considered other houses running the same campaign too but I chose Borderless share house for some reasons. I like the concept of Borderless House. The concept of Borderless House is to bring young people from all over the world and make them live under the same roof to share diverse experiences in a multicultural environment and to create a multi-cultural symbiotic society that is open-minded and free of discrimination. I’m glad that I made the right choice as I enjoy my stay here and the staff is all friendly and accommodating.

Would you recommend this campaign to others?

I have already introduced Borderless House to my friends already, actually! 

The main reason is that from my experience, it’s very easy to reach out to the staff wherever I have any questions or problems, they also respond to me very quickly, it helps me a lot and also makes me feel very relieved. Moreover, the staff all can speak English, I feel the communication is very easy. 

Not to mention the campaign, there’s no initial fee such as shikikin and reikin which saves a lot of money. As well as the process of booking the room is very simple and easy, I didn’t have to find a guarantor or insurance company, which saves me a lot of time and makes moving much more convenient!

So I’d recommend Borderless House to my friends and hope they can also be benefited from the campaign.

Plan Details

Prepay your rent and utilities to enjoy the following exclusive discounts:

1. Half-Year Prepayment Plan:
• Receive a half-month rent reduction.
2. One-Year Prepayment Plan:
• Receive a one-month rent reduction.
• Utilities will be a fixed monthly charge of NT$800.

Important Notes:

1. Not affected by any adjustments in rent or utilities, and cannot be combined with other promotions.
2. In the event of early termination due to personal reasons, prepaid rent and utilities are non-refundable.

1. After applying, when is the earliest I can enjoy the rent discount?
The effective date for the prepayment discount is the 1st of each month, and the application process takes 3-5 business days (excluding the signing procedure). Please make sure to apply in advance to avoid delays.
2. Is it possible to request the relocation of the house or room in the future?
Yes, it is possible. The discount will be recalculated based on the duration of residence in the two rooms.
3. Can I apply for the prepayment discount with a one-year contract?
Yes, you can. The contract type and prepayment discount do not conflict.

인생의 첫 번째 외국인 친구를
조금 더 편하고 조금 덜 낯설게 만나고 싶은
First Friend를 모집합니다. 

 

여러분에게 ‘처음’은 어떤 의미인가요?
설렘과 동시에 걱정도되는 것이 어떤 일의 일의 ‘처음’입니다.

 

보더리스 하우스에 살아보기로 결정 하는 일도 그렇습니다 .
쉐어 하우스라는 주거 형태도 낯설지만 외국인 친구들과
함께 사는 일은 더욱 그렇 겠죠.

 

그렇지만 보더리스 하우스를 찾아 주신 데에는
그만한 흥미와 관심을 가지고 계실 거라 생각했습니다.

 

다만 약간의 두려움, 약간의 낯설음을
보더리스 하우스가 덜어 드릴 수 없을까?라는 마음으로 
My First Friend를 기획하였습니다.

하우스 입주 전부터 소개해 드리는 프로그램입니다.

여러분의 첫 번째 외국인 친구를 만나거나
여러분이 누군가의 첫 번째 친구가되어보세요! 🙂 

모집 대상

• 입주를 결정한 새로운 입주자
• 현재 보더리스 하우스에 살고 계신 입주자

ex) 새로 입주하는 한국인 + 현재 입주 외국인
      새로 입주하는 외국인 + 현재 입주 한국인

기존 랭귀지 익스체인지 프로그램과 다른 점이 무엇인가요?

랭귀지 익스체인지 프로그램은
원하는 언어를 서로 교환 할 수있는 파트너를
매칭 해 드리는데 집중하는 프로그램입니다.

 


My First Friend는 1 :1로 외국인 친구를 소개해 드려
언어, 문화 교류 경험의 질을 높이는 데에 목적이 있습니다 .

현재 코로나 상황으로 인해 글로벌 커뮤니티의 질을 보장하기가 어려운 상황을
극복하고자 시도하는보다 적극적인 매칭 프로그램입니다.

올 겨울 저희와 함께 해주실 보들보들 서포터즈 2기를 모집하게 되었습니다. ♥

우선, 1기에 이어서 2기도 모집하게 되어 기쁘네요 🙂
쉐어하우스 보더리스하우스는 “한국에서 하는 유학 생활”이라는 콘셉트로!
현재 서울 중심 지역에서 총 23개 지점을 운영 중이에요.

세계 각국에서 오신 입주자 분들로 전체 입주자의 절반 이상이 외국인이라
다양한 언어뿐만 아니라 문화까지 친근하게 다가갈 수 있다는 큰 매력이 있죠!
또한 거부감없이 일상 생활 속에서 자연스럽게 배울 수 있습니다 .

보더리스하우스 서포터즈 보들보들은
더 많은 분들에게 더 많은 국제 교류의 기회를 제공하고
새로운 가치관을 접할 기회를 드리고 싶어 기획하게 된 프로젝트에요!

그동안 쉐어하우스 혹은 외국인 쉐어하우스에서 살아보고 싶었으나
시간적, 금전적 여유가 부족해 선뜻 도전하지 못했던 분들에게
정말 좋은 기회가 될 거라 확신해요!

보들보들이란?

예~전의 보더리스하우스 서포터즈는
당시 입주자분들을 대상으로 커뮤니티 메이커 같은 느낌이었지만 !!
보들보들은 ! 서울 쉐어하우스의 입주자는 아니지만, 국제 교류에 관심이 많은
 대학생이나 취준생, 직장인, 일반인 분들 을 대상으로 하고 있어요!

그 중에서도 블로그나 인스타그램 등 SNS 활동이 활발하신 분들을 우대 하며
하우스 안에서 비슷한 연령의 커뮤니티를 만들어 활발한 교류가 가능하도록,
만 18세부터 만 35세까지의 연령 제한을 두고 있습니다.

또한 보더리스하우스 서포터즈 보들보들의 활동 기간은
대학교 여름 방학 기간인 1~2 월이에요!

보들보들 일정
* 입주 기간 1월 2일-4일
* 활동 기간 1월 6일-2월 15일
* 퇴실 기간 2월 17일-22일

1월 2일 목요일 입주를 시작해서 1월 6일 (월), 본격적인 활동을 시작하고
6주 간의 서포터즈 활동 후 2월 15일 (토) 공식 활동 일정이 종료됩니다.
그리고 그 다음 주까지 퇴실을 완료하면 되니
단기로 서울에 살아보고 싶었던 분들에게도 안성맞춤이죠!

서울 쉐어하우스 보더리스하우스에 직접 거주하며 입주자 분들과 교류하고,
그 후기를 SNS에 포스팅 하는 것이 서포터즈 분들의 주요 활동이에요!

보들보들로써 해야하는 것?

전반적인 활동 테마는 총 3가지인데,

하나, 입주자분들과 일주일에 한 번 이상 밥 먹기 !
 집 밥도 좋고, 주변 맛집도 좋아요 ㅎㅎ
중요한 건 하우스 메이트와의 커뮤니케이션!

둘, 째는 SNS 포스팅하기!
 부담 갖지 않아도 좋아요 ㅎㅎ
쉐어하우스에서 지내며 느낀 점이나 일상적인 사진들을 공유하는 느낌으루 !!

셋, 서포터즈 분들이 해보고 싶은 교류 활동을 직접 기획하고 수행하기 !
 ‘교류’가 목적이라면 어떠한 활동이라도 환영 환영!
보들보들 활동 기간 중 이벤트도 함께 할 예정이니 아이디어 뿜뿜 해주세요!

보들보들 이 얻을 수 있는 혜택은?

보더리스하우스의 초기 비용은 보증금 50만 원과 사무수수료 30만 원 ..
 아무리 다른 쉐어하우스 나 원룸에 비해 보증금이 저렴한 편이라고 하지만
경제적인 여유가 없는 학생과 취준생에게는 이마저도 부담일 수 밖에 없죠 ㅠㅠ! 하지만 서포터즈라면 그런 걱정 넣어둬! 넣어둬!

보증금 0원, 월세 0원 이라는 파격적인 혜택과 함께
보더리스하우스에서 공과금 10만 원만 내고 생활하게 됩니다!

이뿐만 아니라 서포터즈 보들보들 분들은 활동 종료 후
활동 내용을 증명할 수있는 추천서를 발급 해드릴 예정이에요.
특히 외국계 기업으로 취업도 준비 중이시라면
추천서가 갖는 힘이 생각보다 큰 편이니 놓치지 마시구요! ㅎㅎ

하단의 첨부 파일 ‘제 2 기 보들보들 지원서’를 다운 받아 꼼꼼히 작성하여
아래 이메일 주소, bona@borderless-korea.com 로 제출해주시면 됩니다!
메일 제목과 파일명은 ‘서포터즈 지원_홍길동’

제 2기 보들보들 지원서

모집 기간은 11월 4일 월요일부터 13일 수요일까지이니
 누구보다 국제 교류에 관심이 많고,열정이있다! 하시는 분들은
주저 말고 ෆ지원 해주세요ෆ

서류 심사 통과자 분들에겐 개별적으로 연락 드릴 예정이며,
면접은 11월 23일 (금)과 25일 (월) 이틀 중 지원자의 선호 날짜에 진행 됩니다 .
최종 합격자 발표는 12월 6일 (금)으로 예정되어 있고,
오리엔테이션은 12월 21일 (토)입니다.

*하지만 상기 일정은 당사 일정에 따라 변동될 수 있으니 참고 부탁드립니다.
